If you’re planning a newborn photography session in The Woodlands TX, you may be wondering how much you need to prepare. Good news: very little! As a newborn photographer, I do as much heavy lifting for new parents as possible, beginning with the supplies. I bring a curated selection of essentials designed to create soft, timeless images without making you overhaul your home. This FAQ walks you through what I supply, how it all works, and how your own preferences fit into the process.

Regardless of the location, I come prepared so you have less on your plate! Each session includes either a Moses basket or a bassinet with a crib mattress. I choose between them based on the light and available space in your home.

The Moses basket works well in tighter areas or spaces where light dictates our angle. The bassinet is larger, styled nicely, and ideal when a room offers more space. If you have a preference, let me know ahead of time so I can plan accordingly. Your input helps create a setup that feels comfortable and natural for your family.

Along with my bassinet and Moses basket, I bring five textured jumpers in various colors. Each one keeps hands and feet visible, because those details deserve their moment in the spotlight. Matching hats are optional, and I always bring a simple white onesie for families who lean minimal and classic. In addition, I have a wrap collection that includes nearly every color you can imagine. Whether you prefer soft neutrals or a muted pop of color, we select combinations that complement your space without overwhelming it.

I start with a plain white wrap underneath. This keeps your baby snug and adds a clean base to build on. From there, I layer a colored or printed wrap to add depth and contrast. If you bring a personalized wrap—something with a name, print, or meaningful design—I often use it as a blanket or basket liner to keep the design visible. It adds personality without shifting the overall aesthetic.

While I come prepared,I encourage my families to include their own items as well to personalize their session. That could include handmade blankets, sentimental gifts, or anything that feels like part of your story. And, of course, if you prefer to use your own crib or bassinet, those integrate seamlessly with what I bring.

What to Pack for Newborn Photos

If you’re considering an in-home session, here’s the honest truth: your home does not need to be spotless, magazine-ready, or decluttered within an inch of its life. I work only in the rooms or areas you want photographed. Everything else stays out of frame, untouched, and undocumented.
Lighting is also not your responsibility! I bring equipment to ensure consistent, natural-looking photos, even if your home doesn’t flood with light. For more reassurance, here’s a helpful breakdown of how in-home sessions work:
